Coactive Newsletter Term 3 2024
From the Director:
Kia ora koutou,
And just like that term 3 is upon us. Out and about this week, we have been in schools supporting kaiako, helping leaders to make sense of the latest changes in curriculum and structured approaches to literacy mahi, giving presentations to Kāhui Ako, working with schools on our Telling Your Stories Projects, and supported our Early Childhood kaiako across a range of new learning for them too. Back in the office it's all go as well as we prepare for our conference season, meeting with our partners and working with our facilitation team on the professional growth cycles (and lot more beside all of that).
We have recognised a general sense of unease amongst the sector not just front line educators but for our team as well. Change is always a challenge and as we navigate the peaks and troughs of the changing tide in our sector, what I'm seeing is resilience, care and compassion for each other. Change is never easy and within it all, we need to maintain our focus on our WHY! Thinking about the ākonga, that young person who is at the centre of all we do is what will keep us focused. Each day, they turn up to learn, we have a responsibility to turn up for them. To do our best for them in spite of the noise and uncertainty. We are all in this together and we are better together. It makes me think of a well known tongikura by Tāwhiao of Ngāti Mahuta.
Ki te kotahi te kākaho ka whati ki te kāpuia e kore e whati.
If there is but one reed it will break, but if it is bunched together it will not.
